Road Investment Strategy

National Highways is progressing a pipeline of projects under its Road Investment Strategy (RIS) programme.

A303 Corridor

Several RIS schemes for the peninsula are focused along the A303 corridor. Peninsula Transport strongly supports the improvement of the entire route, recognising it as essential to levelling up the South West’s economic performance. Comprehensive “end-to-end” upgrades could:

  • Create 21,400 new jobs

  • Deliver a £39 billion boost to the economy

Other RIS Schemes in the Peninsula

  • A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross – upgrading the A30 from single carriageway to dual between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross roundabouts

Large Local Major (LLM) schemes:

Road projects valued at over £50 million. Peninsula Transport has submitted three schemes to the Department for Transport (DfT) for consideration. More can be found via this link:

Major Road Network (MRN) schemes
