Peninsula Transport is committed to improving freight movement across our region. That’s why, in partnership with Western Gateway STB, we’ve launched a comprehensive freight survey to understand how the public and private sectors can collaborate to create a better environment for efficient freight operations. Feedback will help local authorities address real-world challenges – from skills development and lorry parking facilities to road maintenance, fleet decarbonisation, and space for logistics.

Who should take part?

Businesses, logistics providers, and anyone involved in moving goods within or through the south west region.

What does it involve?

The survey focuses on five key themes shaping the future of freight:

Skills in logistics – identifying the skills required, where gaps exist, and how these affect the strength of the logistics sector.

  • HGV overnight parking – understanding the need for and quality of existing provision and its impact on freight operations.
  • Road network maintenance – highlighting areas where poor surfacing, access issues, or resilience challenges affect freight movement.
  • Fleet decarbonisation – exploring barriers to charging/refuelling infrastructure and support needed to move towards low-emission freight.
  • Space for logistics – identifying the types and locations of logistics space required and the blockers to accessing them.

The deadline for responses: 7th December 2025.
