Better Buses for the Peninsula

We are working in partnership with our five local transport authorities and bus operators to improve bus provision in the region.

 The Peninsula has one of the highest levels of bus subsidy in the UK, reflecting the challenging operating conditions and the rurality of the area. Journeys are often longer, which cost more to operate and passengers may have to interchange to reach their destination.

A key pillar of our Integrated Transport Strategy is ‘Easier Journeys’. We are focusing on four areas to improve the experience of bus users:

• Information – delivering a step change consistently across the region
• Simplified Ticketing – regional integration across the network
• One Customer Standard – making bus the easy choice for passengers 
• Integration Readiness – to be ready for bus/rail integration
