Peninsula Transport has welcomed the announcement from Highways England of its preferred route for improving the A358.

This is a major step forward for one of Peninsula Transport’s strategic
priorities. The A358 is Somerset’s busiest A road and used by thousands
of vehicles every day. Upgrading the A303/A358/A30 corridor end to end
will bring major economic benefits to the peninsula.

Peninsula Transport Chair Geoff Brown said: “This is great news and we
are really pleased to see that the scheme is moving forward. This
complements the work that Somerset County Council are undertaking to
upgrade Junction 25 of the M5 which will reduce congestion and boost the
local economy.”
